Would you like your catalog to show the number of available copies, the number of patrons on the waitlist, both, or neither?

If you have an Aspen Administration account, that setting can be found in Aspen Admin under Primary ConfigurationLibrary Systems>Holdings Summary>Show Hold and Copy Counts, then select the option you would prefer.

  • Never – your catalog will never show the number of available copies or the number of patrons on the waitlist.

""

  • Only for unavailable titles – the number of available copies and the number of patrons on the waitlist will only show if the item is checked out.

""

  • For available and unavailable titles with holds – the number of available copies and the number of patrons on the waitlist will only show if there is a waitlist.

""

  • For available and unavailable titles with and without holds - the number of available copies will show even if there is not a waitlist (such as the example below) and if there is a waitlist (such as the example above).

""

  • Show holdable copies without hold counts (New!) This will only show the number of available copies, but not the waitlist. This was custom development for SHARE, with worries that large waitlist numbers might scare away patrons from placing a hold.

Hold Position

Do you want your patron to see where they are in the queue after they place their hold? You can add that option to show in the patron account under Titles on Hold.

""

If you have an Aspen Administration account, that setting can be found in Aspen Admin under Primary Configuration>Library Systems>ILS/Account Integration>Holds

Select “Show ILS Hold Position.”

If you do not have an Aspen Administration account, or would be more comfortable for SHARE to make those changes, we are happy to help! Please fill out a help desk ticket, and include the specific options you would like updated, either Holdings Summary, Hold Position, or both!
