In our recent Cloud Library Satisfaction Survey, we learned that 58% of Cloud Library shopping cart users place items in their carts a couple of times a year or less. If your library is one that rarely uses your cart, you might want to be added to our “no cart” list. This will help us to better budget on multiples copies and suggested items through out the year. Libraries on the “no cart” list are welcome to suggest titles to me for purchase at any time. Ready to hand over your cart? Just let me know.

As anyone who subscribes to an eBook platform knows, the issue of copyright, libraries, and eContent is a sticky one. Libraries don’t really own the eBooks they purchase because of non-negotiable licensing terms. Plus, we’re beholden to circulation restrictions and higher pricing from eBook publishers. The Copyright Office has been taking input and has started a discussion about rewriting key parts of the Copyright Act that could impact library use of eContent. In reponse, the ASCLA Consortial eBooks Interest Group in partnership with Califa, has put together a Library Copyright Reform Statement About eBooks. You can read through the complete statement and sign on in support of it here if you feel so moved.
