As you all know, Polaris will be going through in upgrade in April. We’ve all been waiting patiently for the the 3M icon in the SHARE catalog to switch to the Cloud Library icon and the upgrade will make that happen! You should start informing patrons that they can already search for Cloud Library ebooks in the catalog by using the keyword “cloudlibrary”. Using “3M” will no longer work to find Cloud Library content. For example, a search for “cloudlibrary disney” will result in a list of all of the Cloud Library eBooks we have about Disney. This change happened earlier than anticipated and I’ll be updating training materials this week. I’ll send out the new versions when they are ready, stay tuned.

Browser reading is now available for the Cloud Library. To read Cloud Library eBooks this way, patrons can navigate to https://ebook.yourcloudlibrary.com/library/illinoisheartland/Featured via any web browser, log in with their library barcode number and pin, and click the Read button under any item in the My Books area. This is great news for patrons with older devices that may be incompatible with the app and the functionality is very much the same.
First, A big thank you to Edwardsville Public Library for adding a subscription to Model Railroader to our Zinio for Public Libraries group purchase. Second, as many of you know, Recorded Books is working to combine Zinio and OneClickDigital into one easy to use app. The release of the app is currently scheduled for April and we should be receiving new marketing/training materials shortly. Our school library group does not currently have access to OneClickDigital, but your students will love the newer app to access their magazines. If a patron already has a OneClickDigital account and a Zinio account, those accounts will automatically be linked as of March 16. This should help smooth the transition for those patrons that already use both services.
Vendor Offers: PressReader provides digital access to over 5,000 newspapers and magazines around the world with one annual subscription fee for your library. PressReader is providing one complimentary hour of access to IHLS libraries and has announced that they are offering a 50% discount to IHLS libraries for the first year if you sign up by March 31, 2017!
