Joan Bauer: (8/24/2016 12:51) Good afternoon - we'll be starting at 1pm -- hopefully my notice didn't go out too late. I'm not on my game yet!

Joan Bauer: (13:03) Anyone have any questions? Glad to see everyone

Joan Bauer: (13:03) or see your names, at least

Joan Bauer: (13:04) Please remember to login with name and library so we can give proper credit

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:05) I have a question on larger print books--should the TOM be book or large print? I've seen it both ways and want to know which we should do.

Joan Bauer: (13:05) For those that are just LARGER print but do not meet qualifications for LARGE PRINT - tom should be book

Joan Bauer: (13:06) Can everyone find the SHARE cataloging standards on the redone website?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:07) That's what I've done, but I've seen a lot in Polaris that still have a TOM of Lg print.

Joan Bauer: (13:08) hmm -- Esther -- I see if I can find a good way to find those and change -- hope there aren' many

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:08) I just looked at the standards and it does say take out the d in the fixed field--I hadn't found it in the old version of the standards. The new website & forms look good.

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:08) Much easier to read

Joan Bauer: (13:09) They are searchable also, if the titles don't make sense to you

Denise Putz - Tri-Township Public: (13:09) I just looked at the new website, so far I like it a lot.

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:10) SHARE site could use the system alert status higher on page.

Elena Belleville Public Library: (13:10) The setup for the bib standards on the website is a lot nicer now, I agree.

Joan Bauer: (13:10) Book Cataloging Class has been scheduled for August 30 at 9:30 in Champaign office -- sign up in L2

Joan Bauer: (13:10) Julia - I will mention that to Brant -- I thought it was lower too

Jennifer Baugh- Wood River Public Library: (13:11) When will there be another cataloging work day at Edwardsville?

Joan Bauer: (13:12) Jennifer -- well Edie took vacation, and I'm not sure. We will get something scheduled

Jennifer Baugh- Wood River Public Library: (13:12) Thanks!

Christina Hayes: (13:13) Forgot to put my library with my name.....Christina Hayes- Hartford Library

Roxanna Behnke-Albion PL: (13:13) The sign in didn't pop up for me. Roxanna Behnke Albion Public

Joan Bauer: (13:14) Roxanna - it may have remembered you . Thanks Christina

Joan Bauer: (13:17) Anyone having issues with Label Manager in Polaris?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:18) no, but I'm having a lot of trouble with large results--I have to hit ctrl alt A multiple times to get all the results to load.

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:19) search results

Joan Bauer: (13:19) Esther -- yes, I agree. That has been reported and they don't know what the issue is. I call it Gathering -- CTRL SHIFT A -- used to work great -- then ...

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:20) And it doesn't have to be large results--sometimes it does it on smaller ones, but most often with large. And then sometimes it will work just fine.

Joan Bauer: (13:21) If anyone does AD HOC bulk change or adding items into record set by these workflow -- be mindful that it will stop in the middle of gathering your items (32 of 104 for example)

Joan Bauer: (13:21) I've noticed it on items, bibs, and patrons and it doesn't matter the number. Irritating

Joan Bauer: (13:23) Anyone still having issues with locked files in IMPORT? I do know of a few

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:24) In the 300 field, is " xx unnumbered pages" the preferred wording for subfield a?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:24) I haven't had any--but saw a couple last week and the week before.

Joan Bauer: (13:25) In RDA, I think this is appropriate, Kathy

dena porter-mrnp: (13:26) Good afternoon! Getting here a little late.

Joan Bauer: (13:27) Kathy - from Bib Formats and standards - 300 26 unnumbered pages : ǂb color illustrations ; ǂc 26 cm

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:28) Thanks, Joan.

Nick Bennyhoff-IHLS: (13:31) And if you use MARC Report, it will be sure to tell you that if you have page numbers in brackets - I've seen that quite often...when I've forgotten to make that change.

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:32) What does SAL stand for in the 020 field?

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:33) Yes, Nick, it does. I've just seen so many this week that were 1 volume, unpaged, that I was doubting myself.

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:33) That's a code from Baker & Talylor. When we import for EDI--It keeps the 020 field from the B&T bib so that we can get pricing informaiton for purchase orders

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:33) I think it indicates a soft cover

dena porter-marion carnegie library: (13:34) I thought it was for Sallie Logan Library!

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:34) Lol! I could see that.

Susan eEdwardsville: (13:34) Has this been asked? Is anyone having their local highschool yearbooks digitized by the Oklahoma people?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:35) I know that there have been several discussions on the Exchange. We are not, because the High School has already done them, so we just put their link on our website.

Susan eEdwardsville: (13:35) It is the Oklahoma Correctional Industries

Susan eEdwardsville: (13:36) what years are they putting onlimne? The most recent?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:37) Ours have done all of them.

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:38) Six Mile had our yearbooks digitized. They are a hit!

Joan Bauer: (13:38) Susan - I believe Bobbi Perryman at Vespaian Warner had their yearbooks done -- she spoke highly of them -- you might contact her

Kim: (13:38) I have been trying to barcode a book all afternoon. Ok 2 hours. and when I go to save I keep getting a message saying"An unexpected error has occurred." Is this soomething I did or a Polaris issue?

Susan eEdwardsville: (13:38) I qam wondering about copyright. Thanks Joan, I will contact her.

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:39) We put all available back to 1910.

Joan Bauer: (13:39) Kim - I would log off, then wait five - then log on. That error can be annoying. What library are you at?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:39) Kim--I've run into that and I've found that you have to create another item record and then it should save.

dena porter-marion carnegie library: (13:39) I was having that same problem last week Kim.

Kim: (13:39) Onarga

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: (13:40) Well, Joan--it looks like a lot of people are having trouble with that.

Joan Bauer: (13:40) Thanks Kim -- yes, it is a known issues. Related maybe to "busy times" started popping up more since July 5 -- I'll mention it again to IT

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:40) On Polaris today, I kept getting the PAC Share screen instead of the usual. Just went to biblio. screen and went back and it came up OK then.

Joan Bauer: (13:41) Julia -- let me check on that -- from the Bib search, you are getting PAC view?

Amanda Endicott @ Edwardsville Public Library: (13:41) I've had some patrons complaining about mymediamall ebooks showing up in the opac that they can't actually check out. (I think they're available to Champaign patrons?) Is there any way to hide them in our local opacs?

Joan Bauer: (13:42) Amanda - no. There isn't

Kim: (13:42) We had trouble logging in this morning and have been kicked off a number of times - kept getting a message that the server was temporarily unavailable.

Roxanna Behnke-Albion PL: (13:42) I have been having the same problem as Julia

Joan Bauer: (13:42) Kim - thanks -- we'll pass this along also

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:44) No, Joan, I was getting the SHARE Banner screen (all blue & green) when I select a record instead of a short description info. and the usual buttons (available, more about it...)and icons

Joan Bauer: (13:46) Julia - I'm a little loss on what the issue is. So When in the staff side, you search for a bib, you are receiving what? -- or am I off

Robert Brady, IHLS: (13:49) Just happen to notice some attendees have signed in without adding their library. Anyone who would like to change or add-to their sign-in name once you are in the chat can do so any time by selecting from the “Attendees” top bar the little multi-dashed down arrow on the right. It opens the tiny “Pod options” window that allows you to select “Edit my info…” where you may change/add-to you sign-in name.

Christina Hayes-Hartford Library: (13:50) Thank you!

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:50) Hard to explain as it was just the top part of the PAC view with SHARE information (more blue colored) instead of my library--what the patron might see if they did not select a library in the PAC . It was only this morning.

Joan Bauer: (13:51) If you get it again, can you send a screen shot?

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:52) If it happens again, I will.

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:52) If I'm reading this right, Julia, we had the same problem last week. I would try to open a bib record and I would get the SHARE web page inside the Polaris bib window.

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:52) We used OCI to digitized. Very nice.

Joan Bauer: (13:52) I don't know how many of you have ONE NOTE TOOL, but it has a snip tool for taking screen shots

Joan Bauer: (13:53) Kathy -- Okay -- weird -- will mention it

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:53) Yes, Kathy, that sounds like what was happening to me today.

Joan Bauer: (13:54) How many of you that have received that, actually have the MARC view open first?

dena porter-marion carnegie library: (13:54) the PRTSCN function key will also take a screen shot, it is on most standard keyboards. One my keyboard is is above the INSERT key.

KATHY UTZ @ EFFP: (13:54) mine opens to PAC view first

April Jensen Lincoln Public Library: (13:54) sue and i get that sometimes when Polaris or the internet is being weird. But the marc record view is fine and we look at that.

Julia Ellis, Six Mile RLD: (13:55) Not MARC view, just Internet PAC SHARE banner screen.

Joan Bauer: (13:55) Dena - yes, PRTSCN does a fine job -- the ONE NOTE tool allows you to cut only what you want to copy -- loving it

Joan Bauer: (13:56) Kathy, Julia -- I pass this along with your names attached if they have questions. Thanks for reporting

dena porter-marion carnegie library: (13:57) I'm checking out One Note now.

Joan Bauer: (13:57) Troy did give up catalogers a compliment the other day -- we are the ones who start reporting the weird things first -- so keep any issues coming -- I have a big mouth

Joan Bauer: (14:00) So -- issues I'm to report -- kicking off, unexpected error, the SHARE website instead of correct view, the ctrl-shift-a. We'll get some workdays scheduled -- and I'll look for LARGER Print that have the wrong TOM. Anything else?

Joan Bauer: (14:01) Okay -- we are signing out. Have a great week -

Christina Hayes-Hartford Library: (14:02) Thank you!

Elena Belleville Public Library: (14:02) Thank you.
