Edie Elliott: Hello, all, the chat session will start in about 10 minutes

Edie Elliott: Good afternoon!

Edie Elliott: Does anyone have a question or a comment?

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: I was wondering what the TOM should be for a bike lock? We have several that we check out, currently they show a book icon. A few other libraries have bike locks as well, and the TOM is Three Dimenensional Object (Artifact). What is correct?

Edie Elliott: Three Dimensional Object would be correct

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: Thank you!

Kregg Argenta, ALPL: Could you clarify when the 300 field ends in a period and when it doesn't?

Edie Elliott: The 300 field ends in a period when there is a 490 tag in the record for a series statement.

Kregg Argenta, ALPL: OK. So if there isn't a series statement, then you don't use a period?

Nick Bennyhoff-IHLS: that's correct

Kregg Argenta, ALPL: Thanks.

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: I have asked about this before, but I am seeing quite a few new/newer books with duplicate ISBN's that include the price. I know the libraries that use Acquisitions need the price listed. But if both sets have the price listed do we take one set out? I don't want to mess up anyones final totals.

Edie Elliott: You don't need to delete the price. It's fine to leave it in both places.

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: So, leave duplicate ISBN's in?

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: Part of the problem is that the way the Baker & Taylor records import for EDI, somehow Polaris doesn't recognize the price. So Joan tweeked the import profile to keep the ISBN so that we'd have the price. We're supposed to go back in and take them out, but I admit it is hard to keep up with. I just order more from Ingram.

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: Gotcha! I just won't worry about the duplicate 020's. I'll leave them as they are.

Edie Elliott: I don't think it hurts anything to have the ISBN in the record more than once.

Esther Curry--C.E. Brehm Memorial PLD: You can tell the B&T ISBN. They have HBD or SBD in the field.

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: Esther, is that the one you delete out when you get a chance?

Edie Elliott: Just FYI, I'll be doing a SHARE Reports class at Morrison-Talbott Library on Wednesday, November 16. Registration is open in L2

Gwen Bumpers--Edwardsville Public Library: Does the class include Simply Reports?

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: yes

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: Would you still like us to shorten the 520? A book I did yesterday, the 520 was like paragraph!

Edie Elliott: Yes, the 520 should be a concise summary

Dena Porter-Marion Carnegie: That's what I thought. Thanks!

Gwen Bumpers--Edwardsville Public Library: Thanks, Shelley. Will there be training on videorecordings in any of the upcoming cataloger's training sessions?

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: Edie and I plan to do that soon, but we haven't finished updating it to RDA yet.

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: We should have it done in a month or two.

Gwen Bumpers--Edwardsville Public Library: Okay. Thanks.

April Jensen Lincoln Public Library: will you have something for reference online when that is completed?

Edie Elliott: Handouts for catalogers training sessions are available in L2, but we will also eventually have them posted on the SHARE website.

April Jensen Lincoln Public Library: great. Thank you.

Amanda Endicott @ Edwardsville Public Library: Hi Edie, When you do the Reports class do you cover patron and holds reports as well as item reports?

Edie Elliott: We cover some ways you can get data just from searching using the find tool, as well as canned reports and Simply Reports.

Amanda Endicott @ Edwardsville Public Library: I should specify that I'm talking about Simply Reports and the functions of the patron and holds reports.

Amanda Endicott @ Edwardsville Public Library: Okay, thanks!

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: Amanda, the class covers both "cataloging" and "circulation" reports.

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: I have had a few requests for the reports class in this area, as well. I plan to schedule it in Marion soon.

Edie Elliott: We have a few minutes left. Are there any other questions or comments?

Shelley Stone--IHLS Carbondale: Thanks for attending. Have a great afternoon!!

Yvonne Williams West Sangamon Public Library: Thanks Edie and Shelley!

Kathy Goleman - Divernon Township Library: thanks

Edie Elliott: You're welcome!

Candace Hancock - FREP: Thank you.
