Cataloging in SHARE will follow LC cataloging practice as much as possible, with local exceptions determined on an individual basis. Bibliographic records brought into the SHARE database must be full-level OCLC records, with the exception of acquisition records and records created locally according to SHARE bibliographic and cataloging standards (i.e. records for equipment and library-developed kits).
As of July 1, 2017, all bibliographic records brought into the SHARE database must be cataloged using the Resource Description and Access (RDA) content standards.
SHARE cataloging policies will be subject to continual review and revision by the SHARE Bibliographic and Cataloging Standards Committee and the full membership.
