With many thanks to the Mahomet Public Library for trying it out, we now know that PayPal works well with Polaris! If you decide to try it, you will need a PayPal Pro account, which costs $30 per month plus transaction fees, which you would set up with PayPal. To integrate payments with Polaris, you should contact Troy Brown, IHLS IT Director, to get it set up.

Thank you to all of the libraries who have already returned their annual agreement forms for the next fiscal year—that’s 282 agreements received, and only 198 to go!

The Illinois Supreme Court Library is a non-circulating public law library. The library contains approximately 150,000 volumes relating primarily to Illinois law, federal law, and general legal treatises. The library also provides free, but limited, in-house access to the legal database Westlaw.   If you have a patron with a legal question whose needs surpass the extent of your legal collections, please feel free to refer them to our library. The library staff are able to provide reference services, but are unable to provide legal advice, interpret the law, or provide referrals to legal counsel.

The library is open from 8:00AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, and is located within the Illinois Supreme Court building at 200 E. Capitol in Springfield. If you have any questions about our materials or the services we are able to provide, please contact the library reference desk at (217) 782-2424, or visit our website at www.illinoiscourts.gov

In case you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you might want to take a moment to look at the latest addition to the IHLS website. The tab for this new addition is on the far right, and is entitled Grants. Here you will find information on grants suitable for libraries that you might be interested in applying for—especially given our current economic conditions. You might want to review the information on a regular basis, since there are several IHLS employees adding new entries on a frequent basis.
