Join Amy Sobrino, MSW, LSW and Shannon Nosbisch, founders of Effingham Area Alzheimer’s Awareness as they deliver Friends in Rural Places: Creating Dementia Friendly Libraries, a training specific for small and rural library staff to learn how to implement dementia friendly principles in their local libraries. Amy & Shannon will help attendees establish a working knowledge of identifying dementia symptoms, offer ideas on how to best support patrons living with the disease, and how to make changes to the library environment and services to meet the needs of families dealing with dementia. Spots are limited, and attendees must RSVP. A $10 donation is requested to cover cost of light breakfast and materials. Attendees will receive information and articles prior to the training. The SHARE staff have received reports that there are some libraries still using regular (not removable) tape to attach transit slips to items being returned. Please remember that this practice can leave a sticky residue on the item or damage the item that belongs to another library who shared their item with you. If you don’t have or don’t use a restick receipt printer, please invest in some removable tape, which is available at most large retail stores (Wal-Mart, Target, Dollar General, etc.) as well as office supply stores.
