The IHLS Finance Department, in conjunction with IHLS and SHARE staff, prepare an annual budget for review and approval from the IHLS Board of Trustees to obligate the proprietary funds for the upcoming fiscal year. In April, the draft budget is presented first to the IHLS Finance Committee, then to the SHARE Executive Council and SHARE Finance & Policy Committee in a joint meeting. During this meeting, the SHARE Executive Council provides recommendations to the IHLS Board of Trustees for the initial draft budget review at the April IHLS board meeting. This proposed budget is then presented to SHARE members for consideration and input before the budget is presented to the IHLS Board of Trustees in May. If there are any necessary changes, the budget will be amended after review by the SHARE Executive Council and the IHLS Board of Trustees.
