In cases where the creator in an RDA record is different than the creator in an AACR record because of the provision in RDA that allows a fictitious character to be a creator, the following actions should be taken:
- Edit AACR2 records to make the fictitious character the creator in the 100 field
- Add a MARC tag 700 to the record with the name of the creator that was originally in the 100 field
- Add subfield e with the appropriate relationship designator(s) to 1XX and 7XX fields (See SHARE cataloging standard Use of relationship designators in MARC fields 1XX and 7XX)
In OCLC, ensure the record conforms to RDA standards before exporting to the SHARE database. It is optional to save the changes to the master record.
In existing records in Polaris, it is optional but not required to recatalog the entire record to RDA.
The option to change spine labels and call numbers based on these edits is an individual library decision.
