Updates:
Please make sure your Windows 11 operating system has the February 2023 Cumulative Update installed at the very minimum.
If you are running Windows 11 version 22H2 and do not have the February 2023 updates installed, the Remote Desktop client will freeze while connecting to Polaris.
See Finding your version of Windows to determine which version of Windows 11 your computer is running.
Printing:
Once your computer is updated to the appropriate version of Windows 11, you will need to download and install the following to enable printing from the Polaris Staff Client (this is not needed if you ONLY use LEAP):
ScrewDrivers is NOT compatible with the ARM64 version of Windows 11.
The Polaris Staff Client itself will still work with ARM64 Windows 11, but you will not be able to print.
While 99% of all Windows 11 computers are running the x64 version and NOT the ARM64 version, if you happen to have one of those rare 1% of Windows 11 computers that are running ARM64, you won't be able to print from the Polaris Staff Client and may have problems getting printers to work in general.
As of October 2022 the only devices running ARM64 Windows 11 are:
- Microsoft Surface Pro X
- Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with the 5G option included (the one WITHOUT 5G is NOT ARM64)
- Macbooks with M1 or M2 processors running Windows 11 in a Parallels virtual machine
In other words, if your computer is not a Microsoft Surface or a Mac, you don't have to worry about this.
If you are looking for new computers for your library and you want to print from the Polaris Staff Client, stay away from the above three devices/configurations.
