The new Cloud Library app was released earlier this week! Highlights include: the changed logo, a virtual patron barcode available in Settings, and Teen/Kids tabs in the Browse area. iOS and Android devices should have updated automatically or prompted the user to update. Kindle Fire users can download the new version of the app on yourcloudlibrary.com.
Over 30,000 items were checked out from the Cloud Library in August! Our patrons are loving all of the titles that have been transferred in from the Lewis and Clark Digital Consortium and Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go. Don’t forget to use your Cloud Library cart to add titles to the shared collection. Not sure what to buy? Check out the community carts listed under the carts tab in CAT. Don’t have time to shop?
In case you haven’t heard, the redesigned SHARE website is now live at share.illinoisheartland.org! Under the eResources tab, you’ll find promotional items and information about group purchases. We’ll be adding more to the SHARE website in the coming weeks so you’ll want to check back often. Still to come – eResources training documentation underneath the training tab!
The Cloud Library saw over 29,000 circulations in the month of July! This is the largest number of circs we’ve seen in one month to date and that number is likely to go up in August due to the transfer of items from the Lewis and Clark Digital Consortium. By the end of this week our Cloud Library collection will nearly double in size again, giving your patrons even more to read and listen to!
In September, the Cloud Library logo will be redesigned. The new logo will be available on the SHARE website and Bibliotheca will be sending us some new promotional templates that I’ll be sharing as well. Our school library participants will be very excited to learn that the new Chromebook app for the Cloud Library is now available in the Chrome Web Store and linked on yourcloudlibrary.com. Stay tuned for many other new and exciting features coming to the Cloud Library this fall!
The Lewis and Clark Digital Overdrive consortium transfer into the SHARE Cloud Library is in process. The content from this collection will start moving into the SHARE Cloud Library collection on August 9 and will be complete by the time you open on August 11. A big Thank You to all of the libraries in the L&C consortium for adding to our collection. Once the transfer is complete, your patrons will have access to over 35,000 items!
Don’t forget, Recorded Books is offering an additional 10% discount for public libraries that would like to start participating in the Zinio shared collection in FY2017! The Zinio agreement runs from July 1, 2016 –June 30, 2017, so I’ll need to know by Friday, June 24 if you would like join the group. Wondering about pricing for your library? The results are in from the Cloud Library Loan Rules Survey we conducted last month. The overwhelming response was that what we’re doing is working great and that our loan rules should remain the same, so they will! The SHARE eResources committee reviewed the final results at their meeting on Monday, May 23 and agreed that there is no need to change Cloud Library loan rules at this time.
Cloud Library participants will be very happy to know that by the end of the day today, most of the content from Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go (SILG) will have moved into our Cloud Library collection! Over 6,000 eBooks and over 2,000 eAudiobooks will have been added over the last two days and we’re not done yet! Within the next couple of weeks we will also be transferring over 7,000+ Penguin/Random House titles.
