As of October 2022, Windows 8.1 at any update level will work for connecting to the Polaris Staff Client (Windows 8.0 will need to be upgraded to 8.1). However...
We highly recommend upgrading to a supported version of Windows, as future updates may cause problems connecting to Polaris using Windows 8 or 8.1, and there may not be a fix readily available if/when this occurs.
Once your computer has been updated you will also need to download and install the following to enable printing from the Polaris Staff Client:
- ScrewDrivers v6 client (64-bit) (Future versions of ScrewDrivers will not work with Windows 8 or 8.1)
"This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor."
...then you will need to install this version of ScrewDrivers instead:
Future versions of ScrewDrivers will no longer be compatible with Windows 8, 8.1, or any 32-bit versions of Windows. To ensure future compatibility, please install a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or later.
